Maine and Vermont

Anyone who know Greg thinks he is pretty organized. However that never seems to apply to making hotel reservations for trips. Just ask any of our kids about our trip to germany or Italy. We went on a ten day trip with nothing arranged before we left and having to find a new place each night.

So we arrive at Portland Maine to discover we came over Columbus day which is a big holiday here. Who could have known. Everything sold out.

So Greg go working the iPhone app "around me" and after over 30 calls we found a hotel 45 minutes inland in the middle of nowhere. We arrived after dark but knew it would work for us.

In the morning we discovered we were right on a lake. Alyssa and Florence took the canoe out for a spin.

We then drove to Stowe, VT.

Here is the Von Trapp family lodge. When they left Austria here is where they came.

This is a chapel on top of the mountain above the resort. About a ten minute hike up the hill.

Then off to Ben and Jerry Ice cream.

Good stuff!!!!!

They even have a grave yard for retired flavors. 5-7 new flavors each year and 5-7 retired each year.

Then we drove to Sharon VT to Joseph Smith's birthplace.

Beautiful monument.

We hike back behind in the Forrest with the leaves changing.

Here is the chapel on the site. Beautiful looking and glens in with all of the other New England white churches.
