Final full day in the Cinque Terre region

Florence decided that we needed to get a picture of a unique stairs from each village as well a couple while hiking.




















As you see there are no lack for stairs here.



So when you saw and hiked it all yesterday what do you do for day two?
You do it all over again.


Although Greg was able to influence how we did it more than usual. We took the train to the furtherest northern village, Monterosso and were going to hike straight through hitting all five villages.



But a guy has to have a few carbs if he is going to hike that much so we each got a nice, warm chocolate croissant. And Greg bought an additional cream filled one for good measure.


Well that first segment went so well with the guide estimate at 2 hours and we took just over an hour so when we arrived in Vernazza Greg decided it was time for another chocolate croissant. Florence initially said she would pass. That didn't last. She had one too.


Again we were in the high speed lane till the next village, Corniglia making record time. So Greg decided a few more carbs might be good. Florence again declined until she saw him go into the gelatoria and next thing you know she was enjoying a two scooper as well.


A pause in our gastronomical tale for a description of this picture. With the trail out between the last two cities and with our personal need to hike it we were left hiking along the highway which included hiking through this tunnel.


So we arrived again feeling great to village #4 Manarola, our temporary home. Croissants? Nah. Gelato? Nope. How about a order of fresh fried calamari to go? Yep. And they were great.


With all this carbo loaded was there any doubt we would arrive at #5 Riomaggiore without incident.


This reminded me of an annual event for the ROTC men and women at USC. The barf-a–thon. Run from USC to Tommy's for a double chili burger. Then run to El Rey's for a garbage burrito. Then back to USC. Only our event didn't turn out ugly.


We took some time this pm to wash up all of our clothes since we didn't know when we would get another opportunity.


And then a nice dinner of sea food on a high balcony over looking the village of Manarola watching the sun set. Another perfect day.
