We had a 3 hour layover that gave us enough time so we each got a massage as part of our first class treatment. Free tickets from frequent miles. The one joy of very large dental supply bills.
We then flew to Milan and took the shuttle bus into town. We decided to go light this trip carrying everything in a back pack.
Florence's pack came in at 23 lbs and mine at 27 lbs. not bad for 17 days of stuff.
They have junk like this parked all over here in Milan.
Here is the Duomo at night. It took 150 years to build and is the 4 th largest in Europe.
Very gothic in style to try and impress the pope and the Germans at the same time the experts say.
I planned ahead and with a combo of LDS.org and google earth found the local chapel, found the subway route and got us there no problem for church.
Florence even brought a travel dress for church

We are staying in the village of Manarola.
Simply beautiful.
We are staying in a youth hostel. I know. Youth is pushing it. But it is clean and cheap and highly recommended by Jenni and Mason.
Towels cost extra. Coin showers to limit the time. Oh, and no shower enclosure just a shower head on the wall with a toilet and sink and no barriers.
The hostel is at the top of the town 200 ft elevation above the ocean. Great views.
